Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol Meets with World Free Zone Organization President in China

PHNOM PENH, September 9, 2024 — During a working visit to China, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, engaged in significant discussions with Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, President of the World Free Zone Organization (WFZO) and Executive Director of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones.

The meeting, which occurred on September 8, 2024, also saw the participation of Dr. James Zhan, President of the Global Alliance of Special Economic Zones, and Juma Al Matrooshi, CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis, along with members of the Cambodian delegation.

Hosted in a setting bustling with activity, the discussions focused on various aspects of establishing and managing Free-Trade Zones (FTZs). Topics of interest included the regulatory frameworks, the unique challenges and benefits of setting up FTZs, and strategies to enhance investment attractiveness and direct investment in the region to boost free trade area operations.
